Cifuentes on gardening leave on 10:35 - Apr 30 by daveB | I'm speculating here but if Nourry has told the owners he's going to West Brom and we have to do this I can see why the owners would agree. The fact he hasn't has backfired massively If I was Rueben I'd be sending Hoos and Nourry into the garden as well and starting again |
Agreed. If Nourry leaked the West Brom story and then presented it as his evidence to the board to ditch Cifuentes, that is Machiavellian on another level. Perhaps we have underestimated him. Board needs to ditch Nourry, whatever happens to MC. (Even if the above isn’t true.) As the Pistols said: No-one is Innocent.

If Nourry knew he was going to West Brom why not wait till he leaves and get the compensation. Surely if West Brom do not pay out then Cifuentes is in breach of contract. However it seems common knowledge by local journalists in the Midlands that West Brom do not want him.

Cifuentes on gardening leave on 10:37 - Apr 30 by Padulas_Shampoo | Lassel has said openly mutliple times for a long time now that CN and Marti had already agreed a payoff for this summer. He was going to be paid to leave before all this kicked off. Do you just not believe that's true? Because with that context everything in his previous post makes perfect sense. |
I'm saying that from a commercial point of view it makes no sense. Any decision of that nature has to be signed off by the board and the board's main responsibility is to protect the interests of the shareholders. If one of your more marketable employees has a buyout clause in their contract then it's mind boggling you would choose to tear that up and instead pay them off just so they can work for someone else. Last summer it was clear to everyone that Sinclair Armstrong was unsettled. We didn't tear up his contract and give him his train fare Bristol. We moved him on for a decent chunk of change. Cifuentes on gardening leave on 10:22 - Apr 30 by Padulas_Shampoo | Ok poor choice of word on my part. Any suggestion the board are the ones pulling the strings here in getting rid of Marti rather than Nourry himself has to be challenged though. That has to be bollocks. |
Bee in a bonnet much pal. I’m not saying there’s pulling of strings or conspiracy or anything like that. Who is ultimately accountable for these decisions - Ruben. Who is ultimately accountable for the decisions made under Les as DoF - Ruben. He’s the one who says yes or no. That's not what you said - You specifically alluded to this being a decision made by 'higher ups (probably higher than CN)' have got pissed off and gone down an unsensible route. I'm not suggesting they don't sign off Nourry's decision but I am suggesting it's not them that have ultimately got the hump with Marti irreparably, it's Nourry. [Post edited 30 Apr 11:01]

I agree - but I still ask the fair question, what is Lee Hoos's direct involvement in all of this, as a Championship-experienced (Burnley/QPR) adult in the room? To clarify, he is the Chairman of QPR, Our Present Chairman, unless I'm mistaken. Delegation is one thing, but there are times...I would venture this is one. [Post edited 30 Apr 11:03]

So you just don't believe that Nourry had already decided to pay him off after the season? You think Lassel is making that up? Fair enough if so... don't mean to be prickly here... But what Lassel is saying makes perfect sense if you read and believe all of it.
Cifuentes on gardening leave on 11:02 - Apr 30 with 1489 views | GaryHaddock | Feels like impatience has been the driving force behind Nourry / the boards decision making. If I was a board/ceo who wanted Marti out I’d just let the articles describing his conversations with clubs rack up, then hold my hands up to fans and say ‘he’s the one causing the disruption’. Speculation alert: they / he have probably had someone lined up for a while and they are shitting themselves about this saga eating into pre season so made a very rash decision.

Yes as I think ultimately the decision has been made by higher ups. I don’t disagree CN may well be feeding them a line, but I just think to put a manager on gardening leave in a very public spat is behaviour that comes across like they’re pissed off (and pathetic). If Ruben just wanted an end to it he could overall Nourry at any point, and terminate one of their contracts etc. The point I’ve been trying to make is that you can hate everything Nourry does, he’s only there because of the ownership and his decisions only apply with their approval. Just think they’re the biggest problem here.
Cifuentes on gardening leave on 11:08 - Apr 30 with 1405 views | Konk | I saw Cifuentes' cousin on the school run this morning, and wanting to get a scoop for you lot, I said, "So, what's going on with Marti then?" They shrugged their shoulders and said, "I don't know". Determined not to be fobbed-off, I followed my opening question up with "really?" to which they replied "Honestly". So, there you have it, more-or-less straight from the horse's mouth. I hope this clears things up.

Well at least that would solve the stadium issue. There are some lovely wide open spaces near Kilkerrin that we could build on. Great water pressure around there as well.

I have no beef with Lassel. He contributes a lot here and many have great faith in him. But I don't have any inside contacts at QPR (or Hammarby) and can't verify anything he says. For that reason I take a lot of it with a pinch of salt. Doesn't mean he's wrong. Just means I don't know. I try to look at it objectively as an outsider. And objectively, the idea that you would pay off a key employee just to go and work for someone else, and possibly a direct rival, is commercial madness.

Just to be clear I'm just as apoplectic with rage toward the board as I am toward Nourry; not just because they brought him here and handed him the keys but because there's a long line of manipulative characters that they've trusted before him. We can't fix or changed the board this offseason though. We're stuck with them. They however could hold Nourry as a mere employee accountable for this farce and get shot.

Well I couldn't agree more with you there and have said the same in other threads. Personally though I believe that commercial madness is the reality of the situation. So much of what Lassel has claimed has come to fruition and continues to do so. And the whole picture he's painted here stacks up.

Yeah totally agreed there. And I would love nothing more than them to hold their hands up, admit this is a farce and start afresh (new exec structure and new manager). But there is more chance of one of us getting the gig. Ultimately we don’t disagree, I just don’t really think our problems begin and end with Nourry. Exactly like the manager situation now, do you trust them to hire a better CEO or DoF? My guess is no. So it’s all a bit deck chairs on the titanic until the ownership changes

The board is Ruben. The shareholders is Ruben. He saved Cifuentes during the season when Nourry tried/had sacked him but he’s not going to step in forever and keep them inline like naughty schoolchildren. Either Cifuentes had to go or Nourry and possibly Hoos had to go. It’s an easy decision and paying out a modest sum to sort it out painlessly and amicably would’ve been the best solution for all. That blew up for whatever reason. Compensation from another club is obviously the dream solution but it was never guaranteed anyone would come in for him and they had no intention of going into next season with Cifuentes in charge.

Do you think the experience with Beale has played a part in all this? As I said in the back and forth with PadulaS I just get the sense Ruben is angry too (perhaps the stories in last week?) otherwise why wouldn’t you just agree the pay out and do it quickly, instead they go down this pretty public dressing down of Marti. It’s pathetic on their part and I can’t help but think there’s a bit of Beale derangement syndrome going on where they’re so scarred from his exploits it’s illicit this messy, childlike over reaction?

"The board is Ruben. The shareholders is Ruben." From a company law point of view that's not correct. Shareholders hold sway at General Meetings. The default position for board meetings is decisions are made on a show of hands. Technically the board can still outvote Ruben. So it's not just his decision. (It's a slightly moot point because if the reports that Ruben does now hold 76% of the shares are true he can amend the constitution at a GM to give himself control at board meetings - something he couldn't do back in November when Marti was under pressure because reports at that time said he only owned 60% of the shares) [Post edited 30 Apr 13:44]
