Getting in very early on this one. I only started one match thread last season and we won 4-0 so here’s hoping my luck continues especially as it’s such a huge fixture. Not just because it’s the first game of the season or because it’s the first game for JS, not just because the pressure is on us to beat a team, at home, that many have tipped to be relegated but because this team needs to win for its fragile confidence. To get its supporters to forget about gardening leave and divided opinions. My anxiety levels are way higher than normal for this game and with the injuries we’ve accumulated so early in the season I don’t think they’re going to drop, especially if Dunne and Cook are unavailable.

You wait for months for the season to start and this is what you get; a knot in the pit of your stomach.

I’m going for a rollercoaster 3-2 win. Chair with the first.

C’mon you soooopahhooooopsah.

Oh shit. That central midfield. They’re just going to skip through it.

That is a powder puff of a team. Make it only 1 centre back playing. Only Field playing who tackles. We are going to get seriously over run today. Preston at 2-1 looks a good price. How have we had all summer to get to that 11? Can’t believe Nardi has been dropped.

Yeah massive shake up outfield and we replace the only player who is first on the team sheet every week ???

Whatever team you follow, the keeper is always the first name on the team sheet!!!

Field LCB? Mbengue RB?

He obviously doesn’t know Preston or the Championship. I think Stephanie is in for a rude awakening.

Celar, Morgan, Madsen and a never been seen before Esquardina. What could possibly go wrong.

God help us.

Thinking about it, I'd me more comfortable if it was a 3511

Mbengue Morrison Esquerdinha
Chair Morgan Field Madsen Poku
Dembele
Celar

That spine looks shaky.

It looks spineless, shapeless and probably end up looking largely clueless. Hope I'm wrong and will eat the proverbial if so. However, contrast that with Preston's experienced starting eleven with the physically imposing Smith and Osmajic up top, useful bench and that fills me with dread.

Mbengue and Morrison both play CB.

Morgan played RB/CB in Spurs Academy, so only 12 months ago. He switch to CM with us.

If Cook is fit enough to be on the bench, then I would have started him and have Field as the 6. Esquerdinha in out of the blue.
This many injuries at the start of the season is shocking.

Larkeche, Varane, JCS, Dunne, Frey.

Smells like a trout farm in here

And Larkeche is where?

Come on, he was never going to be anywhere near good enough and JS has seen as much early doors

Surely not injured already?

Never knowingly right.

Seems strange Larkeche started most of the pre season games and Esq was nowhere to be seen. My guess its an injury as he would be on the bench.

is it not?

Walsh
Mbengue, Morrison, Field, Esquerdinha,
Madsen, Morgan
Poku, Chair, Dembele,
Celar

I think Mbengue played RB in preseason and Field was tried as a CB. Quite a few unknowns in there. Madsen and Morgan midfield looks pretty lightweight

The manager is setting Board expectations early with that selection.

Noah McCann is on the subs bench and only returned recently from an ACL.
Why is Timothy Akindileni not taking that sub's place?
Must be because he's injured too.

This is a disaster.

Now, Chair and Field have to cover for this mess. This is the worst I have seen it since Maddix took to the field at Old Trafford with a youth team due to injuries.

Walsh may have to come off with a back injury to all the balls he will be digging out of the net.

This is crackers.

zzzzzzzzzz

Well, if we don't know who's playing where Preston must be scratching their heads.

A new Nourry plan. Put the players names in a hat.......

I’ll have to start taking Omega 6 and doing The Times Crossword to understand the lineups this season.

It be in the form of a Wordle v Watford.

It could be Chair with Morgan in a midfield 2, with Madsen further forward. Or those 3 in a midfield 3 with Poku, Celar and Dembele further forward. I guess Akindileni has to be added to our normal extra long injury list too?

That is an utterly terrifying team selection and we should be embarrassed that after an entre summer this is what we are able to put out.

I hope I'm wrong and maybe everything clicks.
