Been a harsh critic (deservedly so in my opinion) but credit where it’s due - good game today

Put himself about and won a few tackles but also some really intelligent passes and took up good positions when out of possession

Fair play

Close to MoM but that’s Saito for me

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Agree. The player now we hoped he would be. Also agree on MoM. Saito.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Bit of everything from him today, including the full 90 minutes. He was very good.

He’s been good since the end of last season.
Doesn’t look the most interested which I think is why he gets a lot of stick, but he has very good technical ability and end product.
Proving himself to be a good asset at this level

Thought he did well today . He’s getting better game by game.
Mbengue was my MOTM today . Superb

Agree, he had a good game today. We looked solid in midfield. Also agree that Saito was MOM but Vale ran him close - he looks a player

Thought he was good today. Thought defensively he put a proper shift in. Number of times with a simple first time pass or simple 10 yard pass taken early, he creates space and momentum for the team. Thought he took the leadership role in that midfield with Varane on the pitch.

His best game for us, which is something I feel I am saying every week about him at the moment

Yes. Very good today. I stayed back to applaud him off.

As I have said before better players than him have had worse first seasons in English football and came good. He really seems to be getting the hang of it now.

Maybe the difference is the change of manager? JS has shown real faith in him and it's starting to really pay off.

The lad in front of us was saying exactly the same thing... don't think Marti was getting the best out of him...

I said on the fred... that he reminded me a lot of Don Masson today... always seemed to have time on the ball... and just glided over the pitch... also won quite a lot of headers in our box..

Thought he was MOTM first half... but I gave the game to Vale

His most complete game I thought, had bits of everything in there. Fair play to him

From the interview at the start of this season, he was apologetic about the season he had personally had and he was uber critical of himself and it takes guts, one to keep on putting yourself out there and then to be honest with himself that he could do better.

I wasnt as massively critical of Madsen, last season, as i could see he was a confidence player. And a player is very aware when the crowd are beginning to turn on him.

He had a decent last part of the season last term and has noticeably improved, especially in harrowing opposition players into mistakes which most had no confidence in his ability to do this.

He does have players around him, that suit his game and the style of play too. More in tune with these players.

Similar players seeminhly, Tom Carroll, Andre Dozzell, Luke Amos, flattered tondeceive and all felt a bit ligtweight when the chips were done, but personally have been impressed by the man.

Personally, if i had had half of Shepherd's Bush on my case, even if i had talent, never did, i wouldnt have recovered form.

Its taken him a season to adapt to the championship.

Good luck to the guy.... And well done sir....

Terrific today. Both sides of the ball.

MoTM for me today.

Looks like a completely different player. Made numerous blocks and clearances in the first 20 minutes when we were under pressure, but can then play a pass. His dead ball deliveries, along with Vale, are excellent.
He is still pressing and competing in the 90th minute.

I agree with others that JS has implemented a system that gets the best out of Varane and Madsen.

His best game for us, without a doubt. A fine all-round game.

Got lots of love on the Match Fred. Our best player in the first half imo in particular, by a country mile as well.

Noticeably more involved. Made a number of important tackles/blocks/interceptions in the first half. When you add all that to the things he does well it makes a much more rounded and better performance.

Really pleased for him.

I always quite liked Amos (thought his biggest issue was that he was constantly injured or at risk of being so) but agree on the others.

Madsen has been good this year. If he has arrived this summer and had this start I think we'd be collectively talking about him as a good signing. A lot of stink to wash off from last year, but give him credit for knuckling down and starting to do so.

Confidence is a preference for the habitual passer of what is known as (R's life).

Maybe in addition to confronting his struggles before the camera, a bit more faith from the manager, and having the benefit of a season under his belt, there's also the benefit of having Buzz and Kone making themselves available.

Either way, fair play to him! He looked tidy today.

Wouldn’t include Amos. He was a good player who unfortunately suffered with injuries.

Looks a different player now there’s movement in front of him.

Saito, Burrell and Kone are immense and Vale is off the charts good, reads the game like nothing I’ve seen here for a long while.

Madsen on 16:52 - Sep 20 with 2713 viewsdm97

Just very happy for him. Clearly a decent guy. Looks good with Varane next to him, and they complement each other. Slowly becoming the sort of player we hoped we had bought. But still more to go. Keep going Nico
