The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 10:24 - Jun 3 by Wegerles_Stairs | If I were rich I'd put a £20,000 bet on Tim Sherwood as the next manager just to bring his odds in and freak everyone out. |
FFS, I just saw the name "Tim Sherwood" and freaked out on the spot.

Coached them La Liga play-offs. 39 years old. Stephan still looks like a clear favourite anyways. Funny that Thorup are still 2nd,even he turned us down

He won't be available for a while as playoff semis finish on 12th June and the playoff final if they reach that doesn't finish until 21st June. A name I was waiting to see on the list though as he's done a tremendous job getting a really unfancied team that far Edit - a good piece for anyone interested https://www.lapausa.digital/p/mirandes-are-not-following-the-plan [Post edited 4 Jun 8:40]

That article's fascinating thanks. It does sound like he plays a very different style of football to Marti. To return to a previous point, surely the "club has a game model etc that persists beyond the manager" requires that you have people lined up as potential candidates in the future, especially if the relationship between Nourry and Marti was as bad as suggested. That's all going to be a tough narrative to sell if we end up bringing someone with a very different style of play. Maybe we have had the replacement lined up but can't pull the trigger because of contractual constraints. Or maybe we end up deviating because we just couldn't get the people who fit the profile to work here.

Great article also helped by the QPR mention "Only two players have won more duels than Panichelli across Europe's top five leagues and second divisions this season (Jimmy Dunne from QPR and Ebou Adams from Derby County)."

Yeah, FWIW I don't imagine we'd actually have any real interest, I was just expecting him to be on our list after the job he has done and I'm a big fan of him. La Liga clubs will be all over him and he'll do well if he ends up there, possibly Osasuna which would be a great job to take. But its exactly what you say really, if the game model is what Nourry has said it is, then it is going to have to be someone who can come in and fit in to that structure. I think that means it is someone who is going to have to see QPR as a big step up and take the risk, which makes me think the Danish bloke Bertelsen just feels the most realistic, that is just based on feels though!

I was against Thorup just because he'd have been the first QPR manager younger than me. I don't like that at all.

Well Nourry clearly wants a yes man - not sure how many managers/head coaches out there are that type of person.

The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 13:05 - Jun 4 with 4586 views | Lblock | Hopefully Marti get's the Brizzle City gig. That will then allow the Man Child to move on with some face saved "told you he was looking elsewhere" and maybe even get two bob and conker in compo. Once that is announced we'll see if there was / is a plan after all and, if so, things should move dead fast. Next Season Ticket renewal window is 30 June. Maybe I'm too much of a sceptic in my old age but; I can see a few more announcements next week or so along the lines of todays Ben Williams one ahead of this date. Head coach to much fanfare, a few players, Saito permanent, a few players "can't wait to get back it" media message BS and.... my personal hope... the renewal of Sir James of the Dunne (last one never going to happen but I can dream). We'll see.

The vast majority of European coaches work in exactly the setup that QPR is now installing. Head Coach, nothing more or less. Still, for the Luddites, I hear that Big Sam is available or even better a Holloway/Warnock tag team. What manager wants, manager gets. That worked out well for us!

They do. But the DOF they report to is usually somewhat more experienced than our fella. And, often a lot more personable. Have a feeling that will be putting a lot of them off. They will actually have to meet him before accepting the role…

Ok ,blimey! Let’s not try and make out it’s the set up that people have an issue with. The question , and it’s only a question by The Chef is maybe coaches are struggling with the CEO himself ? Maybe when candidates get into the details, they see they are answerable to someone with 18 months experience which the results are average at best . Or maybe they sit down and realise that he has a bigger ego and self opinion than the coaches themselves which would be a red flag for anybody . They might not be . Might be nothing of the sort dnd this is all a master plan , but don’t make out that concerned fans are just belligerently just moaning for moaning’s sake. Another day down , the clock is ticking and fans are worried …that’s all . And that is natural . If you think this is all going tremendously, then maybe should be asking yourself some questions . Because it appears ..and we get told nothing so we have to go by what we see ….that it’s a shambles frankly .

Very true. Add to that the war of words and general poison that will have been spread, by both sides, in the Nourry v Cifuentes battle. We get to see the odd leaked story or Charlieb post (not that he's connected to the club), so you can imagine the whispers each side is spreading about the other behind the scenes in the game to contacts, agents, clubs, players etc. Could have some affect on how attractive the club/Marty are to potential new relationships. All a bit of a shame. I'm looking forward to all sides moving on.

The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 09:49 - Jun 5 with 1801 views | HAYESBOY | Have to say, I've read few things on this that IMO are just nonsense regarding Marti and Noury wanting to sack him last summer and then last November. Why was it then that the management team got new contracts on the 30th of Sep last year? Makes no sense at all. https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2024/september/30/cifuentes-calm-new-contracts/ Obviously gone too far now to have Marti come back unless Noury is shown the door and that's not happening. Over 2 months now. Absolutely no planning in place and now we are it seems struggling to find a new manager. All very QPR.

They got new contracts because when they joined they had a clause put in that they got a new deal on more money if we stayed up

I suspect that a new manager has been appointed but no announcement can be made until the Marti situation has been resolved. All in the hands of the lawyers.
